“I tell my friends Impact San Antonio is filled with awesome, smart, generous ladies who are passionate about making San Antonio a better place,” said Marian Amini.
Marian joined Impact San Antonio in 2018 after being recruited by Cynthia Schluter, a long-time member and previous Board Member. She is a recent graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Communications and Music and presently works at Kelly Wade Jewelers. One of her life goals is to join the board of her family’s charitable foundation. Marian wanted to learn about the mechanics, mission and heart behind the grant review process. She participated on a grant review committee for the Education focus area and found the experience to be invaluable.
“I learned what a good nonprofit looks like. I discovered it must be sustainable and must either reach a large amount of people or touch a smaller amount of people in a deep way. I also learned there are a bunch of different nonprofits in town doing great things in our community, some of which I’d never heard of before.”
Marian says she wants to spread the word about Impact San Antonio to young business owners and influencers who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in our community. She believes the opportunity to share a membership between two to four women will be attractive to women her age.
“It is fun to be a part of this organization. People my age may not know about it, but we need to get the word out and find each other. When I tell people we awarded more than $500,000 in High Impact grants last year, they are shocked; and it packs more of a punch because we are all women.”
Like Marian, most of our new Members learn about Impact SA because another Member told them about us. When you share our story and mission, you leverage your membership even more by adding new women to the fold, which increases the impact we make on our community.
